Fellowship

Overview
There are many opportunities for fellowship at St. John’s. September through June, a fellowship hour is held after both the 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. worship service in the Parish Hall on the second Sunday of each month.

Several social events are held throughout the year – Winter Family Fun Night, Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Church Picnic, and the Christmas Caroling Covered Dish Social. The purpose of the get-togethers is fun, fellowship, renew friendships, make new friends, and promote a sense of family within our church.

Membership Information
St. John's welcomes all people to join our church family. Membership Preparation Classes, Come Grow With Us, are held on six consecutive Sunday mornings, 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. These classes help participants deepen their understanding of our faith, meet other new and current members, and learn about St. John's.

New members are received during worship and are welcomed at a Fellowship Hour. Photos of new members are posted on the bulletin board. All new members and their families are later invited to attend a scheduled breakfast.

Persons transferring membership from another Lutheran congregation request a letter of transfer from that congregation.

It is the duty and privilege of members to:

  • make regular use of the means of grace, both Word and sacraments;
  • live a Christian life in accordance with the Word of God and the teachings of the Lutheran Church; and
  • support the work of this congregation, the synod, and the churchwide organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America through contributions of their time, abilities, and financial support as biblical stewards.

To inquire about membership, contact the Church Office.

People Over Fifty-five
We welcome St. John's members age 55 and over to come and join us for fun, food, programs, and fellowship. "POF", as we are better known, meets monthly (2nd Tuesday) at 11:00 a.m. in the parish hall (weather permitting) from September through June. Lunch is served at noon. Some type of entertainment, speaker, or game time follows. Our June meeting is a picnic and the December meeting is our Christmas party.

WELCA
Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America

St. John's Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is an auxiliary of the church at large with a mission to provide:
Growth - a learning experience to help strengthen each woman;
Community - to enable each woman to value herself and others as created in God's image by building and celebrating global, diverse and independent relationships;
Action - to enable each woman to act upon her faith as Christ's disciple in all areas of life.

Monthly programs and meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, September through June at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall. After a brief business meeting, visiting speakers or members of our own congregation provide us with programs that are informative, educational and interesting, ending with fellowship and refreshments. Program topics are announced in a yearly program "booklet," which is published and available at the monthly meetings, listed in the monthly Newsletter, and in the Sunday worship bulletins.

Christian Service Workshops are held the 1st Tuesday of each month in community room #4 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. During the year, a group of dedicated women knot blankets that are distributed through Lutheran World Relief.

Every year we host the Lehigh Mission District "Ingathering of Gifts for Others." Our members also provided and served a church fellowship hour, and the Lenten Ecumenical Service fellowship. Sympathy and get-well cards are sent to the congregation's members and friends to show our love and support.
