St. John's Christian Preschool

Welcome to St. John’s Christian Preschool! Our mission is to prepare young

children for academic, social and spiritual success by providing them with the

tools that they will need for a well-rounded life and to achieve a personal,

loving relationship with God.

Developmentally-appropriate curriculum and personalized activities are

implemented in the classroom, and a variety of teaching techniques reflect

our belief that every child learns in her or his own individual way. Some of

our methods include self-discovery, small group activities, large group

experiences, literacy and mathematical explorations, art projects, learning

centers and dramatic play. Weekly Christian Connections and thematic units

foster both a love of learning and a love for our Lord.

Classes are staffed by a credentialed teacher and an assistant who both have experience in Preschool classrooms.  Volunteers from St. John’s Church Community are also on hand to assist the teachers and students.  All staff members are required to have a current Criminal Background Check and a Child Abuse Clearance.

Parents are always welcome to volunteer in their child’s classroom and to attend special events.

What To Bring To Class

Parents will be asked to provide a class snack one time per month.  Water will be provided at snack times as a nutritious and non-staining beverage.  If your child would like to have a special snack for his/her birthday, please inform the teacher in advance so she can include the information on the snack schedule.

Children should bring a backpack to school everyday to carry home any papers, projects and classroom updates. Please have all jackets, backpacks, spare clothing and other items labeled. Please do not bring any toys or other small items unless requested by the teacher.

Children should be dressed suitably for the weather in casual clothes. At orientation, please bring a change of labeled clothes to be left at the school for an emergency. Please also send an Art smock to school during the first week. A large adult shirt works well.

Calendar

St. John’s Preschool follows the calendar of East Penn School District. In the event of a weather emergency, we also follow their decision on school closings and delays.

Each month, your child will receive a newsletter and calendar which explain the special events and projects that the Preschool students will be working on for that month. It will also include important dates and “days off”. Please be sure to keep the newsletter and calendar handy.

Parent Teacher Conferences are a time for parents to meet with their child’s teacher and discuss his/her progress. Conferences are scheduled twice a year – in January and April.
