Maundy Thursday footwashing to be held April 17

On Maundy Thursday, April 17, as we commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper, we also remember Jesus washing his disciples’ feet in the Upper Room. As a part of our evening worship that day, Pastor and select participants will re-enact this moving ritual. Pastor will pour water over the feet of participants and then dry them with a towel. While this ritual occurs, members of the congregation will be invited to sing a hymn while contemplating the significance of the ritual. If you are interested in participating or want more information, speak to Pastor or sign the sheet on the Parish Hall bulletin board.

It is amazing that Jesus chose washing feet to portray his love, the love his disciples should have for each other, and what kind of ministry they should have in the world. No matter how great or powerful we are, we are never too great or powerful to forget about serving and loving one another! Jesus humbling himself to perform this lowly task shows us that true love for one another and good leadership involves sacrificing our pride and comfort to take care of someone else. This is the extent of God’s love for us – God always willing to enter right into the muck of our lives to be with us and to love us unconditionally!

Sunday School Service Project for April – BUCK -A- CHICK Collection

Starting Sunday, April 6 through April 19, Sunday School families may offer $1 to buy a chick for family living in poverty through ELCA World Hunger. Your dollars will provide families in need with chickens so they will have eggs to sell and earn income for the family as well as have them at nutritious meals. For one dollar, your child will receive a chick of their own to color and display their name as the sponsor. This is a fun and simple way to address world poverty and help others in need during this holy season of Lent.
