Madisyn Heiser-Elsea: Steward of the Month: April 2018

My name is Madisyn Heiser-Elsea and I am 12 years old. I was baptized here at St. John’s and currently attending 7th grade Confirmation class. You know me by seeing me Acolyte at the 8:00 church service and I also sing on the Youth Choir and help to ring the tone Chimes before the service. I volunteer as a server at the Spaghetti dinner and attend VBS as a teacher’s helper. I volunteer at the Emmaus Historical Society, helping out at the kid’s arts & crafts table. Outside of Church I am a 7th grade student at Lower Macungie Middle School where I am an active Member of Student Council and Yearbook Club. I was on the Middle School Volleyball team and currently play for the Lehigh Valley Cross Court Volleyball team which I enjoy very much.

I am also active in my school Spring Musical where I will be singing and dancing in March to Disney’s Little Mermaid. I am truly blessed to be part of a wonderful church family that I will continue to grow with through my years here at St. John’s.

Annette Roth: Steward of the Month – February 2018

My name is Annette Roth.  I consider St. John’s Church my second family since I began attending weekly Sunday School and VBS at the age of 7 years.  I was confirmed, married, and my 3 sons were baptized and confirmed at this church. Because I was thankful for the church members who enriched my life through their Christian faith and the many activities which were available, I wanted to give others the same opportunities while sharing my faith with them.

In the past, I taught Sunday School and VBS, and played on the church volleyball team (a short-lived social event with local churches).  Today I can be seen as a lector, gift presentor, or communion assistant during the Sunday services.  I am a member of GIFT and coordinator of the annual spaghetti dinner.  Over 30 years ago I joined the Altar Guild and have been the president for the past 20 years.

I feel blessed to be a member of this church family and enjoy participating in the many events/committees offered by the church.  It is a wonderful feeling to know you’re helping someone, while at the same time enjoying an activity with your family.

Carol Ann Brokate: Steward of the Month – January 2018

I grew up in this church from the time I was baptized until present time.

I attended Sunday School with my younger brother and then stayed for church with my parents.

I sang on the Children’s choir, attended Girl Scout Pack 33, and went to Sunday School until I was confirmed. Then I started teaching a class with Eleanor Lavey until I went off to college for 4 years. I helped in the summer with the bible School (2 week session). I also taught Catacactal class for 3 years in the 1970’s.

In 1966, Hank and I were married in St. John’s and we continued to attend church. In fact, they convinced Hank to teach 9th grade. I continued to teach Sunday School and my own 3 children attended every Sunday. I had them in my class too.

Pastor Foerster became Pastor in 1972. In the late 90’s Pastor Fred was the one that asked Nancy and me if we would take over Fellowship the second Sunday of the month, excludes July and August.  We said we would try it and we have been doing it every since, about 23 years.

I will continue to help in any way possible as long as I am able.
