Fresh Vegetables in the Parish Hall

Our gardeners have been hard at work carefully tending their gardens and would like to begin sharing God’s blessings of vegetables with you on the following dates after both services:

July 8
July 22
August 5
August 19
August 26

Gardeners are asked to bring their vegetables to the Parish hall on these dates. A free will offering will be accepted from anyone interested in taking some vegetables. All donations and any remaining vegetables will be given to Groceries Plus, the local food pantry in Emmaus.

Additional dates in September will be determined based on the growing season. Please email Cheryl Kraemer (cheryl.kraemer@yahoo.com) with questions.

Mid-week Lenten Soup Supper and Worship Rescheduled for March 28

Since we have missed two mid-week services this Lenten Season, Pastor Newhart
suggested that we schedule one for next Wednesday, March 28. Barb Lamotte called bread
providers and soup makers, and people reacted positively. The supper is all set. Beth Ann,
cantors, dialog presenters and a lector have all graciously agreed to help with the
rescheduled worship service. Dave LaMotte has ushers lined up. All we need now is for you
to come for fellowship and worship next Wednesday evening. This is just one more example
of volunteers and staff pulling together to make St. John’s such a great congregation!

Disaster Relief Cleaning Kits

The Outreach Committee is asking you to respond with monetary donations to purchase supplies for cleaning kits needed by folks after the recent hurricanes. There are detailed criteria for each requested item so the committee has decided to do the shopping for you. They will also assemble the kits following specific instructions.

Each completed kit has a value of approximately $65.  The United Methodist Committee on Relief is coordinating the shipping and handling.

Look for committee members after this week’s and next week’s services to make your donation. They will be holding the donation buckets as you leave the services. Also, you can see a sample cleaning kit on display in the church.
