GermanChristmas

A Christmas Service in the German Language: Sunday, Jan. 4 at 5:45 p.m.

This year, our German Christmas Service will be held Sunday, January 4 at 5:45 pm. The service begins with prelude music and candle lighting. The service will be led by Pastor Maxon with special music by Ted and Sarajane Williams, harp and guitar duo as well as guest vocalists to lead the carols in German.

Even if you do not speak German, this is a very special service of tradition and beauty. A German cookie fellowship will follow.
If you are able to help in the service, your help makes visitors feel welcomed and makes the evening a success. We need volunteers for:

· Cookie Baking- sign-up with Kathy Mintzer

· Serving as an Usher or Greeter

· Helping set-up and take down Luminaries

· Candle lighting as an Acolyte

· Sanctuary Clean-up and set-up/unlocking

Please contact Kathy Mintzer 610-393-8484, kmintzer1939@gmail.com or Tim Ginder mmdirector@stjohnsemmaus.org with for any questions

Worship Service Time Survey Results

Survey results are in and Worship and Music and Church Council met to discuss them. 70 people responded to the survey and many made comments (which were very helpful). Thank you to all who participated. 66% of those responding felt we should stay at one service.

Upon recommendation of Worship and Music, Council voted to stay with one service for the time being. The service will be at 9:30 am as it has been during the summer months. Sunday School times are still uncertain; Educational Ministry will work on that and let the congregation know. Worship and Music has committed to revisiting this issue next June to see how it is working for the congregation.

We know that not everyone will be happy with this decision and can only hope that each of you will try and adjust to this change in our church lives.
