CROP Hunger Walk Award Presentation

St. John’s has been designated as the winner of the Golden Sneaker Award for the 2013 CROP Hunger Walk held in October last year.

This award is given to the congregation that had the largest increase of funds from the previous year. St. John’s raised a total of $1326 this year as compared to $20 in 2012. This award was established as an incentive for raising more funds to combat local and world hunger.

$28,000 was collected from the 2013 CROP Walk in the Lehigh Valley. 25% of this total stays here in our area and is split between the Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank and the Daybreak Soup Kitchen. The day of the Walk, walkers also brought over 700 pounds of food for the food bank as well. Leaders from the Lehigh County Council of Churches presented Pastor with this Golden Sneaker Award on Feb. 2. Many thanks to Faith Drescher who coordinated this event for our congregation.
